Background of National Security Education Day
National Security Education Day is a holiday established to enhance the national security awareness and safeguard national security. On July 1, 2015, the 15th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People's Congress passed the National Security Law of the People's Republic of China, which stipulates that April 15 of each year is the national Security Education Day.
What is national security?
The National Security Law of the People's Republic of China, which came into effect on July 1, 2015, clearly states: "National security refers to the state power, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, people's well-being, sustainable economic and social development and other major interests of the state are relatively free from danger and from internal and external threats, as well as the ability to ensure continuous security."

What is 12339?
In November 2015, the national security organs issued a notice to the public, 12339, which is a telephone number for accepting information found by individuals and organizations endangering the national security of the People's Republic of China.
If citizens and organizations find acts endangering the state, please call 12339 to report to the territorial National Security Bureau; Or log on to www.12339.gov.cn, the online reporting platform for State security organs; It can also report to other state organs and organizations such as public security organs, and the relevant state organs and organizations will immediately transfer it to the local State security Bureau for processing.
What are the obligations to safeguard national security?
Article 77 of the National Security Law of the People's Republic of China clearly stipulates:
1、Abide by the relevant provisions of the Constitution, laws and regulations on national security;
2、Timely report clues of activities endangering national security;
3、 Truthfully provide known evidence involving activities endangering national security;
4、Provide convenient conditions or other assistance for national security work;
5、Provide necessary support and assistance to state security organs, public security organs and relevant military organs;
6、Keep state secrets that you know;
7、Other obligations stipulated by laws and administrative regulations.
No individual or organization shall commit any act endangering state security, and shall not provide any financial assistance or assistance to any individual or organization endangering State security.
What rights do citizens have in safeguarding national security?
1、 Acts of citizens and organizations supporting and assisting national security work are protected by law. If, as a result of supporting or assisting the work of state security, the personal safety of himself or his close relatives is in danger, he may request the public security organ or the state security organ for protection. Public security organs and state security organs shall, in conjunction with relevant departments, take protective measures according to law.
2、Citizens and organizations that cause property losses due to their support and assistance in national security work shall be compensated in accordance with the relevant provisions of the State; If personal injury or death is caused, preferential treatment shall be given in accordance with relevant state regulations.
3、 Citizens and organizations shall have the right to make criticisms and suggestions to state organs regarding the work of state security, and shall have the right to complain, accuse and report violations of law and dereliction of duty committed by state organs and their functionaries in the work of state security.
What activities endangering national security should be vigilant about in daily life?

2、beware of overseas radio, television, Internet and other media incitement, rumors.

How to safeguard national security?
1、Where documents, materials and other articles belonging to state secrets are found, they shall be promptly delivered to the relevant authorities, units or security departments.
2、 If it is found that any person buys or sells documents, materials or other articles belonging to state secrets, it shall promptly report to the confidentiality department or the state security organ or the public security organ for handling.
3、 To have the right to stop the theft or seizure of documents, materials and other articles belonging to state secrets, and to report immediately.
4、If it finds clues that reveal or may reveal state secrets, it shall promptly report them to the state security organs.
